NAVIGATING THIS COURSE AND SITE
Welcome
Thank you for choosing to deeply engage with the complex issue of culturally appropriate service delivery for CALD victims/survivors of child sexual abuse.
Course structure
The Full Course takes approximately 5 hours to complete.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-eligible certification will be issued upon payment.
The program is self-paced, and can be completed at any time.
Materials
The Full Course is made up of six modules.
Each module contains a video of approximately 30–45 minutes duration.
Feel free to press pause any time.
The PowerPoint that is used can be downloaded, so you can follow along with a hard copy if you wish.
Discussion Forum
After each video has been viewed, you can contribute to Discussion Forum/s.
This can help consolidate or even transform your learning, and provide an opportunity to hear the thoughts and experiences of others working in this space.
If there are no posts yet, be the first to get a robust and important conversation going.
Before contributing, please note:
First responses are important for capturing truth, authenticity, and deep personal meaning and understanding, which all help translate into being a good practitioner. However, please also think carefully about how you word things before posting to ensure the cultural and psychological safety of CALD children, families, and communities is honoured, respected, and maintained. Lack of appreciation for the power of words, and their potential for misinterpretation, can have dire consequences for them. That is, please feel safe and free to be honest, while simultaneously being ethical. If language has been used in a way that could be construed as racist, sexist, classist, disablist, ageist, or homophobic, the course instructor (Dr Pooja Sawrikar) will respond to or delete such posts.
Please do not disclose whether you are a victim/survivor of sexual assault, nor ask others if they have been sexually assaulted. Please seek professional assistance if you are experiencing distress. This is not about perpetuating the silence around sexual assault further, but about protecting the psychological safety of all program users, who may be at risk of re-triggered primary trauma or secondary traumatisation upon disclosures.
Your name will be visible with your comment unless you choose to post anonymously. If you do not want anyone to know you have engaged with this program, either DO NOT make a post or remember to post anonymously. You can also share your thoughts with the course instructor privately by email.
